Lapita Gourd Number 3

« | »

Hand carved and painted with ancient Lapita pottery motifs. Approximately 9″ x 10″

The Lapita civilization was an ancestral culture from which all Oceanic civilizations descended, originating in Southeast Asia around 4,000 years ago. The name comes from the site of the first discovery of pottery — which has not been made in most of Oceania for many centuries — in New Caledonia.
