“At one point in my career, I would park at the Ho’okipa lookout on Maui, set up my jewelry on a beach chair and enjoy the day as I chatted with locals and visitors, selling my pieces. Towards the late afternoon I’d watch the honu as they migrated out of the water and up onto the shore to rest, their rows of domed shells forming a new landscape on the sand. They were a magnificent sight.”
